Abstract

<p>The map contains an interpretation of the the hillshaded digital elevation model of the Uyghur capital Karabalgasun. The city was founded shortly after 740 and was the center of the Uyghur empire until it's destruction by the invading Yenisey Kirgiz in 840. The site is subject of study by the Mongolian-German Orkhon-Expedition since 2007.
